privilege we never take lightly

Being a therapist is a privilege we never take lightly.

Jesica Bassett, LMSW

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious or hopeless? Like you aren’t sure what comes next but you know it’s time for something different? That’s where I come in. My main focus is to help you process difficult emotions when they feel too big, to create lasting self-care routines and to help you see your undeniable strength.  I specialize in working with those experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, low confidence, working through traumatic experiences, difficulty with self-love and within the perinatal stage (trying to conceive, pregnancy loss, pregnancy or postpartum).

I want you to leave our sessions feeling seen, empowered and strengthened. I never forget that being a small part of your journey is a privilege.

You can expect to laugh during our sessions as I believe humor is one of the best parts of life. My love language is the Office quotes and bonus points if you are a Harry Potter fan (I’m still waiting for my Hogwarts letter!).

I received my Masters in Social Work from Michigan State University (Go Green!) and am a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker in the State of Michigan.

One of my favorite quotes is “ Life ain’t always beautiful, but it’s a beautiful ride.” I have often found that life can throw you a curveball when you least expect it and it is often hard to navigate those big life challenges by yourself. Have you ever found yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or depressed about things going on in your life? What if you could have an unbiased, safe space to openly express those thoughts, fears, or concerns without needing to censor yourself or fear judgment? Where you could unpack everything in your head with someone who understands and supports you? This is what I do for my clients.  I provide a safe, therapeutic environment where you can feel empowered to openly express your feelings and work towards achieving your goals.

I have been a social worker for 25 years, helping individuals navigate ongoing struggles in their lives such as anxiety, depression, big life transitions, end of life, grief, single parenthood and transitions into senior communities. I utilize talk therapy and humor to assist my clients in working through their thoughts, problems and fears and help them learn some new approaches for coping with life’s challenges.

Taking that first step towards self discovery can often be a scary one and I am here to help. Let’s chat to see if I am a good fit for you!

Just like seeds, we all have our own unique needs and preferences. It's important to understand and nurture ourselves accordingly, recognizing that our needs may change over time. Understanding and adapting to these evolving needs is fundamental to the therapeutic journey and we will work towards this in our collaborative therapeutic relationship. After all, aren't we all just trying to grow? Let's lean into the sun together!
As a social worker, I specialize in anxiety, depression, adjustment, life transitions, and grief. I am certified in Gerontology with experience in end of life care, dementia care, and medical social work.
In our space, these things are true:

  • Your feelings and experiences are valid.

  • You will be not only listened to, but heard.

  • You will not be judged.

  • I will hold a space for you and your experiences.

  • As much as therapeutic engagement can teach you, I know I will also learn from you.

  • I will hold space for you in the light and in the dark.

I look forward to working with you at Conscious Garden Counseling.

“You have changed my life for the better. I now understand that life doesn’t always have to be perfect and that I’m strong enough to handle anything that comes my way.”
